The Rishi are the inspirers of the Vedas of the ancient Indians, the guides of the first epoch after the universal flood that destroyed Atlantis.
They are represented in the celestial vault by the seven stars of the Ursa major or Big Dipper. Their names, according to traditional Indian astrology, correspond to the seven stars that make up the constellation; next to these are the names of the stars of western astronomy.
- Kratu – Dubhe
- Pulaha – Merak
- Pulastya – Phecda
- Atri – Megrez
- Angiras – Alioth
- Vashista – Mizar
- Bhrigu – Alkaid
Their living knowledge instead finds its reflection in the Pleaids, star cluster of the constellation Taurus, from the same cosmic door from which our solar system entered the universe. In the ancient Indian initiation the Pleiades are the brides of the seven stars of the Big Dipper, called the seven spouses: so the Rishi saints are married to their knowledge that comes from the stars.
- Merope (or Dryope or Aero)
These two systems of seven stars are also two stages of the initiation path, conceived looking at the constellations as a map of the animic-spiritual world, in which the path to higher degrees of consciousness is traced.
According to the stellar myth, in the initiation one proceeds:
- From the seven stars of the Big Dipper, called the Seven Brothers;
- To the seven stars of Taurus, the Pleiades, called the Seven Sisters;
- After these seven pairs you arrive at Sirius, the star of the Upper Eighth.
Sirius is also called the “dog star”, because it belongs to the constellation of the Big Dog and is the brightest star in the night sky. In the “days of the heatwave”, at the time of the summer of the ancient Egyptian era, the star rises together with the Sun, in sync with the flooding of the Nile. The star Sirius sent his spiritual impulses to the river so that it would flood. The silt left on the banks of the Nile made the earth fertile. Thus Sirius is also the star that represents Isis, the goddess of mysteries who follows and leads the initiate to the Sun-Osiris. Isis in the Christian tradition is called Divine Sophia.
The Seven Holy Rishi and occult history
We can say that the Rishi were living carriers of the Sofia. They incorporated the teachings of Manu, the highest Atlantis initiate, who woven into their etheric body the wisdom contained in the seven oracles of Atlantis. They drew this knowledge from the Holy Book, in particularfrom the 12 chapters that Manu wrote to preserve all the knowledge accumulated in Atlantis.
Following the Universal Flood, which submerged the continent of Atlantis, Manu led the most advanced Atlantians to Central Asia. From here the first initiates of Manu were sent to Northern India to form the new spiritual nucleus of the first post-Atlantic culture: thus began the Paleo-Indian era.
The ancient Indians felt like foreigners in the material world, as the clairvoyant faculties of the Atlantis were failing for the first time. They felt nostalgia for the spiritual worlds and they considered the material reality an illusion, the Maya, to be avoided: they had no interest in nature. So the Seven Holy Rishi instructed them with poems and songs that awakened in the ancient Indians the perception of the spiritual world in the physical world.
Whoever had seen these holy men would not have recognized them as such: they appeared as simple people. But when they were speaking, the Seven Planetary Genes manifested themselves through their etheric bodies, making them an instrument of spiritual communication. Thus their words were magical, capable of commanding the will of those newborn men on the physical plane. Thus they announced the descent of the Solar Spirit, the Christ as Vishva Karman, who would descend on the physical plane only in the fourth Greco-Roman epoch.
The Seven Rishi Saints introduced esotericism as the foundation of the first post-Atlantic civilization: at that time the ancient Indian aimed to recover the relationship with the spiritual world, lost after the destruction of Atlantis. Every spiritual effort was therefore directed from the Moon chakra (the Root) towards Saturn (the Crown): the aim was to make the chakras flourish so that each individuality could be cancelled in the cosmic absolute, the Brahman which was represented as a downward triangle: the progressive penetration of the Brahman into each individual. The downward triangle indicates the action of the spiritual-soul in matter. Since the chakras are the astral organs, they are related to the human soul and its interpenetration by the cosmic spirit.
At the end of the Paleo-Indian epoch, the knowledge of the Rishi flowed into a transformed form in the second post-Atlantic epoch, the Paleo-Persian one. Zarathustra was the great master of that era, who presented Vishva Karman as Ahura Mazdao. However, the etheric body of the Rishi intervened several times in the course of occult history.
Steiner describes that one of the interventions of the Masters consisted in raising a very special child near Montsegur in the sense of the Cathar community until, because of the Catholic persecution, it was no longer possible. So the child was, in great secrecy, taken to safety to a Templar stronghold in Austria: Burg Lockenhaus. Here is the treasure that the Cathar survivors took away in great secrecy during the final attack on Montsegur in the crusade of 1244: it was this special child!
In Lockenhaus the child was initiated by twelve masters who infused him with all the spiritual wisdom of the world, according to the twelve points of view of the zodiac. Seven of them incorporated the etheric body of the Seven Rishi Saints, the other four incorporated everything that the four ages of culture had accumulated in their incarnation in the earthly world: Indian, Persian, Egyptian and Greco-Roman. The last among them embodied natural science. The child died shortly after his initiation, only to be reincarnated in 1378 under the name Christian Rosenkreutz, founder of the Rosicrucian spiritual current.
Finally, the spiritual knowledge of the Seven Rishi Saints would reappear in a Christified form, within the Vital Spirit, during the seventh and final post-Atlantic cultural era, the future American era.
